My Favorite Looks from the 2018 Met Gala

My Favorite Looks from the 2018 Met Gala

If you are a fashion lover like myself, the annual Met Gala is a must see event. Each year the Gala has a theme. This year's theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination". Some found this theme a bit controversial. I won't debate the issue here because this post is simply a light-hearted look at what everyone wore last night. I had some definite faves that I wanted to give a shout out to!

Ariana-Grande-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Ariana Grande in Vera Wang

This dress was stunning! Designed by Vera Wang and inspired by the Sistine Chapel. Everything about this was beautiful.

Amber Heard in Carolina Herrera

This was one of my favorite looks of the night. And though it is fairly simple the styling was sooo perfect. Her makeup, hair, the headpiece.

Kerry-Washington-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Kerry Washington in Ralph Lauren

This look was more subtle than a lot of the looks we saw last night, but it was still on theme and Kerry looked beautiful. And I had to show a close up of her hair accessory. She is definitely #hairgoals.

Kate Bosworth in Oscar de la Renta

Another look that I think embodied the theme perfectly without being too literal. I love everything about this!

Evan-Rachel-Wood-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra

I am a firm believer in personal style and aesthetic and one of the things I love about Evan is that she definitely has her own style. She has worn impeccable pantsuits on red carpets for years. And for last night's event she didn't stray from that - she just embellished it with this exquisitely detailed gold feather cape.

Zendaya-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Zendaya in custom Versace

One of the people I always look forward to seeing on a red carpet is Zendaya. The girl has such style! And it's always original - she never looks like anyone else. She and her stylist Law Roach worked with Versace to create this custom look inspired by Joan of Arc. And the amount of detail put into this look is bar none...down to the Joan of Arc haircut. This was my favorite look of the night!

Priyanka-Chopra-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Priyanka Chopra in Ralph Lauren

How gorgeous is this?! I'm a sucker for anything velvet and the color and bead work on this dress is stunning. And the cape at the back! I was genuinely shocked to find out this was Ralph Lauren since their aesthetic tends to me more minimal and classic. And I had to include a pic of the back of that gold beaded hood. So amazing!

Greta-Gerwig-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Greta Gerwig in The Row

I love this. Seriously. I love how utterly on theme it is and how Greta clearly has a sense of humor about the whole thing. Not to mention that the dress is actually pretty?! Like take off the white undershirt and add some jewelry and this would be a stunning red carpet gown.

Amanda-Seyfried-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Amanda Seyfried in Prada

Some have stated that this look was more Grecian goddess than Catholic-sinpired, but Amanda's stylist stated that it was supposed to represent Papal yellow. And I can see that. I think they paired that with the "heavenly" part of the theme. Either way - I love this look. From the dress, the hair, the makeup. It's just a beautifully styled look all around.

Blake-Lively-Met-Gala-2018.jpg

Blake Lively in Versace

And last but certainly not least in Blake Lively's incredible look inspired by Renaissance painting of the Virgin Mary. How gorgeous is this?! It's so over the top and extra but if you can't be extra at The Met, then when can you? I loved the head piece and jewelry (which was worth  $2 million!). I wish I could add more pictures of this dress because the detailing is son intricate and beautiful. It took Versace's seamstresses over 600 hours to complete the dress. And the dress was so big Blake had to take a party bus to The Met! So extra. And I love it!

And that's my list of favorites from last night's event. I also want to give a few honorable mentions to Rihanna (who came in a Pope-themed look that was fantastic), Bella Hadid,  Chadwick Boseman - gotta acknowledge the guys who brought it!

What were some of your favorite looks last night? Let me know in the comments!
