The Mod Woman December Book Club Pick
Okay where did 2018 go? We are a little over 30 days away from 2019 folks and while I am more than happy to say au revoire to 2018, I can’t help but be a little whip-lashed by how fast this year has gone by.
This is the twelfth Mod Woman book club pick and the final one for 2018. And I wanted it to be something from my list of books I wanted to read in 2018. Which I admit was a giant failure. I simply didn’t have much time to devote to it. But - I can at least cross off one of the books this years and hope for a better outcome in 2019. I will be listening to this month’s pick, A Secret History of Witches by Louisa Morgan as an audio book. I want to get back to audio book because it makes it easier for me to get through books if I can listen to them on my commute or while I run errands or clean my house.
A sweeping historical saga that traces five generations of fiercely powerful mothers and daughters -- witches whose magical inheritance is both a dangerous threat and an extraordinary gift.
Brittany, 1821. After Grand-mère Ursule gives her life to save her family, their magic seems to die with her.
Even so, the Orchires fight to keep the old ways alive, practicing half-remembered spells and arcane rites in hopes of a revival. And when their youngest daughter comes of age, magic flows anew.
The lineage continues, though new generations struggle not only to master their power, but also to keep it hidden.
But when World War II looms on the horizon, magic is needed more urgently than ever - not for simple potions or visions, but to change the entire course of history.
Happy reading!
