My Summer Makeup & Skincare Wish List
Summer is officially here and so are the summer makeup and beauty releases. I am definitely more of a fall kind of girl when it comes to makeup releases since they are always more interesting to me. So my wish list for this year is fairly small. My main obsession this summer is "glow". Which is pretty funny because with my super-oily skin I avoided anything with the description "glowy". But my skin as of late has been turning a corner in that area. It can still be classified as oily but is becoming more balanced thanks to some recent additions to my skincare routine. So now I want to finally play with highlight and thinks that will make me look like a beautiful golden disco ball in the sunlight.
Urban Decay Born to Run Palette, $49
I was an still am on the fence about this palette? I like it. But I have yet to see a non-biased review of it that has blown my mind. And I do have a lot of these colors in my collection already in other palettes. But...I still kind of want it. Ugh. #paletteaddict
Mac Prep+Prime-Fix + Shimmer in Pinklite and Goldlite, $26 ea.
I am a recent convert to Mac Fix + and I seriously don't know how I have done my makeup without the stuff. It's amazing. I use it literally everyday after I have used my regular setting spray. What I love about the original Fix + is how it melts your makeup into your skin for a natural finish. It also work for applying shimmer eyeshadows and making them pop more on the eye. If you are oily and use a ton of powder and a mattifying setting spray (both of which I do) Fix + is a must have. So the idea of having Fix + paired with a bit of gold or pink shimmer for the summer? Yes, please! I watched a few YouTube reviews on both sprays and went in thoroughly expecting to only want the gold one but I want both. Goldlite is a more "glittery" finish while Pinklite is more subtle and soft. I can find uses for both!
Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer, $38
I recently purchased the Ole Henrisken Three Little Wonders Mini Set on Sephora. I have been in the market for a new moisturizer as well as looking for a Vitamin C serum to try. The Three Little Wonders sets contains minis of both. Pro tip: Try purchaing minis of skincare or makeup products you are interested in before investing in the full size. I do this all the time and it's a great and more economical way of trying new products. I wasn't sure if I would like this moisturizer since it's thicker than the moisturizer I had been using which was a water gel formulation. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it isn't. It's a thicker cream but it's heavy or greasy on the skin. It absorbs quickly leaving the skin feeling hydrated. I have just finished the little mini jar from the set and will be investing in the larger size jar.
Pat McGrath Sublime Skin Highlighting Trio, $50
This is a recent addition after seeing it applied to skin and me falling over in my chair from it's blinding glow. This is a departure from my usual aesthetic when it comes to highlighters but I am here for it. The shift in the first two highlighters are a beautiful pink and green with gold shift in them. Stunning! The last one is a bit intense and would probably look better on skin tones deeper than my own but with a light touch and fan brush I could get some use out of it.
And that's it! I am really proud of myself for not going crazy. This list is short compared to what my usual wish lists look like. And who knows? Maybe someone will come out with amazing release that I will just have to have. But right now I am pretty meh about most things and am happy to keep my wallet semi-closed!
What is on your wish list this summer? Let me know in the comments!
