October Favorites: Netflix, Netflix and More Netflix - oh and a podcast and Natasha Denona
It’s November guys. November. And we got 3-4 inches of snow here in Chicago on Halloween. Crazy town. It feels like I just got used to it being 2019 and now we only have a little less than two months of the year left. What is time?? Anywho - it is time for my October favorites. I didn’t have a ton of them last month. I did a lot of Netflix binging - which is my activity of choice when the weather gets cold. And it shows in my favorites list.
The 5th season of Schitt’s Creek debuted on Netflix last month. It feels like forever since the 4th season and I was so excited for this one. I haven’t finished it. I am trying to savor it since I ran through season 4 in a weekend and then was sad at my own gluttony. But so far I am loving it!
I continue to binge listen to the Crime Junkie podcast. I am slowly working through their older pod episodes. This podcast made it onto my favorite podcasts of 2019 so far list and I am still enjoying it.
I recently had two $100 Sephora Rouge Rewards and was at a loss at what to do with all my sudden Sephora riches. These rewards are notoriously hard to come by and even more notoriously hard to redeem. But redeem I did. I spent the first one on some skin care essentials that I know and love. I used the other to splurge on the Natasha Denona Metropolis palette. This palette was puzzling to me when I first saw it on Instagram. It looks all over the place with quite a few repetitive shades. I ad already decided that it probably wasn’t for me. But then I kept finding myself drawn to it. And when I learned what the inspo was it made perfect sense to me. I was also intrigues by one of the formulas. Natasha Denona has a cream to powder eyeshadow formula that is featured in a few of her older palettes (most recently the Gold palette and the Biba palette) which I have come to really like. And so I decided to use my last reward and ordered it. And I don’t regret my choice. This palette is beautiful. The cream to powder shades are my favorite. And yes, while there are some repetitive shades (I would have swapped out one of the dark cp shades for something else). And I only spent $30 out of pocket on it. Would I have spent the $129 retail price in cash for it? I don’t know. It’s a LOT. But I am so glad I have this in my collection and have been really enjoying using it.
The Great British Baking Show is one of my all time favorite shows. It’s one of those shows that if you’ve never seen it before may seem boring. But it is not. The drama that can surround trying to make the perfect choux pastry is REAL my friends. And what I love most about the show is the camaraderie between the contestants. There is no cutthroat behavior on this show like there so often is on American reality competition shows. The current season is currently running on Netflix. Unfortunately it is part of the new Netflix model of releasing one new episode per week so you can’t binge watch it. BUT. It gives me something to look forward to watching every Thursday night.
Interior Design Masters is another British Netflix reality competition show that I have been loving. Its a tiny bit more cutthroat (if you consider a few bitchy comments here and there cutthroat) than the Great British Baking Show. And there are contestants that you root for and against. But no one is actually that unlikable. Which is so apropos of British competition shows. But if you love home design, decor and design and a good competition this is a great show to binge watch.
What were some of your favorites in October? Let me know in the comments.
