February Favorites - Fashion, Food, Music and Netflix

February Favorites - Fashion, Food, Music and Netflix

Well goodbye February, we barely knew ye. This month, as the shortest month of the year, has naturally flown by but I still managed to discover a few new things and make a few purchases. I’ve mostly been hibernating since the weather here in Chicago has been insanely cold so most of my faves are related to either things to do at home or things to wear in the cold.

I have finally gotten around to re-building my coat wardrobe after the coat I’d had my eye on at Zara sold out never to be seen again. I mourned that coat for ages. But…I have found not one but two replacements. The first being this Vince Wool Alpaca Blend Coat. It’s a beautiful blush pink (or as they call it, “Vintage Rose”) and is currently on sale at Nordstrom. It runs a bit big, but I love it and can’t wait to pair it with chunky sweaters.

I have been attempting to have better snacking habits when I get home from work. I have a tendency to eat really well throughout the day and then blow it all when I get home on chips and cookies. It’s Girl Scout cookie season so the cookies cannot be helped, but I have found a pretty awesome alternative to eating chips. These Blue Diamond Gourmet Almonds in the Garlic, Herb and Olive Oil flavor are AH-MAZING. Since I started eating these I haven’t missed chips. And they are packed with good fats and protein. Another bonus is because almonds are so dense I don’t find myself needing to demolish an entire bag to feel satisfied like I do with chips.

Searching for boots when you have wide calves is like searching for water in a desert. I needed to replace a pair that had become worn out and searched far and wide for a pair that was for wide calves and that I actually liked. I finally found this pair of Sam Edelman Penny 2 Riding Boot (not the regular Penny which is for standard sized calves) in Whiskey. I’ve been rocking them for a little over a week now and I really like them. And I can even wear them with skinny jeans. So if you are a wide calf girl like myself I highly recommend these. They come in a couple of other colors, including black and I considering buying another pair.

As far as what I have been watching and listening to, my obsession with anything Billie Eilish puts out continues. Right now I have two songs on repeat: When I Was Older and Bury a Friend. She is going on tour this year and for some reason I had no idea she was coming to Chicago - she will be here the day after my birthday. And of course all tickets are sold out and the ticket scalpers are selling them for $185 a pop! Why?!?!

My Netflix winter binge fest continues with a show one of the YouTubers I watch, Samantha Ravndahl, kept talking about. Which of course made me curious and so last weekend I decided to binge watch the entire first season of Workin’ Moms. And it’s SO GOOD. And hilarious and real. I believe there is currently only one season out so I recommend binge watching it now. What I really loved is that the show is filmed and takes place in Canada and I got to play “spot the actor” with a bunch of Canadian actors who are on my favorite Canadian produced and filmed show, Wynonna Earp.

What have you all been loving this month? Let me know in the comments!
