My Favorite Shows of 2019
This list may look a tiny bit different from the list I did a little while back - but I tried to think really long and hard about what I enjoyed the most and what has stayed on my radar and what has faded away. And in doing that a few things got bumped off of my favorites list. I still enjoyed them and still recommend them. There are a few additions to the list as well. Some things that I was definitely late to but that I would feel remiss in not mentioning.
Killing Eve
You know those shows that everyone raves about but you never get around to actually watching? That’s what Killing Eve was for me. Until recently. I watched the first season recently and it has easily become one of my favorite shows of the year. I haven’t watched Season 2 yet (I know!) but it’s on the list and I am excited to see where it goes next.
Fleabag
I talked about my love for this show here. It is still one of the best shows I’ve watched in years. It’s kind of perfect.
Russian Doll
Russian Doll made my original favorites list and it still holds a spot on it. I can’t wait to see where the show goes in Season 2.
Schitt’s Creek
If you still aren’t watching this show what are you even doing? Seriously.
Mindhunter
Season 2 was just as smart and engrossing as Season 1.
Unbelievable
I have mentioned this show numerous time here on TMW. And now both Kaitlyn Dever and Merritt Weaver are nominated for Golden Globes for their performances. Which they both so deserve.
Jessica Jones
The final season of Jessica Jones was meant to be on my original favorites list and I simply forgot to add it. The final season is a perfect culmination of everything that came before in the previous seasons. I love that the show did the work of laying the character groundwork for what happens. It makes it both believable and compelling.
The Great British Bake Off
I mean… it’s GBBO. What’s not to love?
The Inventor
I had both this docuseries and it’s sister series, The Dropout on my OG list. I decided to whittle the list down and pick just one. And since I have The Dropout podcast on My Top Ten Podcasts of 2019 list, this one got the spot. But watch them both. They’re both really good.
The Mandalorian
Two words: Baby Yoda. But also a pretty decent storyline and action. And I’m not even really a Star Wars fan.
You are probably wondering where a few series like Watchmen or Succession are on my list. Well…I haven’t seen em’ yet. I’ma cord-cutter which means I often am a bit behind on watching certain shows. But BOTH are on my “to watch” list.
