My Favorite Makeup Products of 2019 So Far

My Favorite Makeup Products of 2019 So Far

We are a a few months past the halfway mark of 2019 (crazy!). I wanted to do this post before we get to the Fall and Holiday makeup seasons where everyone goes nuts and releases a million new products. Often times when you are a makeup enthusiast you forget about the products you’ve been loving in favor of all the shiny new things coming out. I didn’t want to do that with this list. So there are things that I am using quite frequently now that aren’t on the list. My criteria were things that I reached for again and again over these last 8 months and things that I still feel inspired by.

CoverFX Monochromatic Blushes

I purchased these when they first came out in early spring and have been using them pretty much everyday ever since. I purchased the shades Warm Honey and Soft Peach. This is a beautiful formula. Highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. I just love the nice matte flush these give and when I want a look with a bit more to it I layer with the shimmery shades.

Colourpop Everybody’s Got a Weakness Super Shock Highlighter

This shades is from the Disney Villains collection ColourPop did in early Spring. This is from the Hades collection and is the most perfect shade of peach highlight almost ever. I have an obsession with peach highlighters - I love them all. But this one I reached for a ton in the first few months of Spring. I don’t use it as often anymore but I still count it as one of the highlights (no pun intended!) of my purchases from earlier this year.

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Loose Setting Powder

This is a more recent purchase but I decided to include it because I love it and have been using it pretty much everyday since I purchased it. It’s super-finely milled and gives a beautiful soft matte finish to the skin. It doesn’t look flat or dry or cakey. The only caveat with this powder is the price and the amount of product you get.

Ace Beaute Oceanic Palette

When this palette first came out I told myself I didn’t need it. I had blue eye shadows and green ones and I just didn’t need this one. I was so wrong. This palette is stunning. And the formula is a vast improvement on the formulas of Ace Beaute’s previous Paradise Collection palettes. Blues are notoriously hard to formulate, but these blend beautifully on the eye. I don’t use this palette often but it’s a palette that when I look at it inspires me and I get excited to create looks with it.

Natasha Denona Sunrise Palette

This was my birthday gift to myself this past June and my very first Natasha Denona purchase. Up until that time I had been very Natasha DeNONO because of the super high price point of her palettes. They usually retail for $129. This one retailed for $65 with slightly smaller pan sizes. This palette was my gateway drug into Natasha DeNona. Because I have since purchased the Gold palette and want to grab a few more products of hers to try. This palette is lovely. The formulation, the pigmentation, the color story…all of it. If you have not tried Natasha’s products yet because the price point put you off this one is half the price with the same great quality.

Wet N’ Wild Liquid Catsuit Lip Gloss in Send Nudes

For a good chunk of this past spring this was what I wore on my lips combined with a shimmery gloss (I love it paired with ColourPop Fantasia). It is basically a super opaque glossy liquid lipstick. The neutral undertones make it perfect for pairing with other things. And it’s affordable.

Lime Crime Lip Blaze in Fern

This is a more recent purchase but I have been wearing it and loving it so much I had to include it. The Lip Blaze formula is a super hydrating hybrid between a gloss and a lipstick. It almost feels like you are wearing a hydrating lip balm. The texture is silky and smooth. And this color is amazing. I bought two other colors from the collection; Herb and Bud but Fern is hands down my fave.

Becca Khloe X Malika Face Palette Made With Love by Khloe

I wanted this palette when it first released after swatching it in stores but I couldn’t bring myself to pay the $44 price tag. So I waited. And early last Spring it went on sale and I grabbed it. I swatched both palettes in store and while the Malika palette was richer and had more color payoff on my skin tone it read quite orange on me, so I opted for the Khloe palette. The bronzer is a bit light but it builds up nicely and has a nice neutral undertone to it. The blush and highlighter can be a tad too blingy but they layer will over other products.

Milk Hydrogrip Primer

I have talked about this primer so much on this site that I kind of feel like there’s not much more to say about it. It’s great. Especially if you have oily skin and have trouble getting your foundation to stay on and last. I had been using my Cane & Austin primer quite a bit but feel like it might have been breaking me out. And so I switched back to this one and I’ve rediscovered why I love it so much. I pair it with my sunscreen and it’s a perfect combo.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation

This is a very recent purchase. Like two weeks old. And yes- I am adding it to this list. That’s how good it is. I’ve been wearing this foundation nearly everyday since I got it. My fellow oily skin ladies - don’t let the “Luminous” in the name of this product scare you off. Think “natural satin finish” “healthy glow”. This foundation isn’t dewy or greasy. But it isn’t hella matte and dry looking either. By the middle of the day I have a bit of shine and oil but I generally can dab that away with a tissue and my skin looks as fresh as when I first applied it. The coverage is medium buildable and I think the shade range is pretty good. If you’re unsure I suggest going to Sephora to get color-matched and get a sample. At $38, the price point is comparable to most middle-high end foundations like Fenty or Urban Decay.

Pat McGrath Lust: Lip Gloss in Faux Real

I love this lip gloss. The formula is smooth and shiny and it has just right amount of pigment to it. The specks of shimmer in this gloss are gold and when on the lips the shimmer is very subtle. I like to apply it over liquid lipstick to give the lips a bit of dimension. at $28 the price tag for this is hefty but I’m glad I bought it. If I would compare it to my other favorite sheer shimmery gloss, ColourPop Fantasia I would say this one leans more on the yellow and warm side while that reads more pink and neutral.
