My Favorite Beauty Products of 2020 (so far)

My Favorite Beauty Products of 2020 (so far)

We are officially past the halfway point of 2020 and it’s time for my half year round up of what beauty products I have been loving so far this year. This year’s post feels a bit odd since most of the items I will be listing I started using and/or purchased during lockdown.

Near the beginning of the year, I treated myself to my first set of natural eye brushes. I purchased the Sonia G Sky Eye Set. The brushes are designed with hooded eyes in mind. I’ve been using this set almost exclusively since I got them. Thy have elevated my eyeshadow game and made doing simple and complicated looks easy and quick.

I mentioned the Pat McGrath Divine Rose II in my June favorites post so I won’t go too much into it here but I will say that it is a palette that surprised me. I knew I would like it but I did not know just how much. It is one of the easiest palettes to work with that I own. And the shades are stunning.

I purchased the Laniege Glowy Makeup Serum on a whim during the Sephora Spring Event in April. I had very low expectations for it but I still wanted to try it. It proceeded to sit untouched until the beginning on June when I finally got around to trying it. I had been doing my makeup a few times a week but had been forgoing primer and setting spray since I was indoors and didn’t really need to worry about the lasting power of my makeup. This serum does not make makeup last longer. It is a gel-like serum primer that gives the skin a beautiful natural glow. I have oily skin and run away from anything with the name dewy in it. But glowy? Yes, please. This serum looks beautiful under matte and natural finish foundations to give them a less flat, dry look. You only need one dropper full for the whole face and it make the skin look like you had an amazing facial.

This past Spring saw my love of luxury lipsticks be born and blossom into a slight obsession. I picked up two of the Gucci Satin lipsticks during Bergdorf’s Sale in April. I got Susan Nude and Penny Beige. I love Susan Nude; its a cool toned nude beige and will be perfect for fall and winter. But Penny Beige is the one I have reached for the most during the summer months. A beautiful neutral-toned nude with a soft satin finish. It is a great lip color when you want to wear lipstick but don’t want to worry about reapplying. If I want to add something special, I will apply a gloss over it.

I am so glad I got this palette when I did, because it has been perpetually out of stock ever since it’s launch. Artist Couture Supreme Nudes is a beautiful neutral toned palette. That sounds really boring and neutral palettes are a dime a doze, I know. BUT. This one is so well done. The formula and the shade selection are perfect. I’ve take one of the mattes and run it all over my eye lid for a simple, pretty but easy look. And I’ve dipped into the metallics for a more dramatic look.

I was so late to the party on this one, but I had to add it to this list since I have been wearing it almost exclusively since I purchased it. The Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is a fave among many and I have come to see why. The finish is perfect for summer: light to medium, natural finish coverage. It is a “your skin but better” turned up a notch foundation. I’ve especially been loving it on hot days.
