How I Have Updated My Skin Care Routine for Fall
It’s officially Fall! It isn’t quite cool enough here to break out the chunky sweaters, but I have already started my fall skincare routine. I started it in late August. Why so early? I wanted to get a jump start on hydration. Which is such a huge factor in the colder and drier months. I started using my Rosehip Seed Oil again which I had retired for Summer. I also added a few new products into my routine and swapped out a few others.
Cleanser
I am still using my Youth to the People Superfood Cleanser. I really like it but I may switch to an even gentler cleanser once we get into the thick of winter.
Cleansing Balm
I’ve been all over the place with my cleansing balms lately trying out different one to see what I like best. Right now I am using the Physician’s Formula cleansing balm which is okay. Once I am finished with my current jar I will be switching back to my Heimish All Clean Balm.
Hyaluronic Acid
I am currently testing out a new hyaluronic acid from the brand Inkey. And so far I really like it.
Toner
I am in between treatment toners so right now I am focused on using up my current toner, The Body Shop Vitamin E hydrating Toner. It’s a nice step after my cleansing routine at night. I have another toner to try after this that I am excited about. It has no actives in it which I think I will stay away from for awhile in toners since I have actives in other products I use. I don’t want to dry my skin out by bombarding it with acids and actives.
Actives
I switched from my The Ordinary Salicylic Acid to the Inkey Beta Hydroxy Acid. My skin can sometimes get used to AHA/BHAs and I have to swap them out for different formulas to get results. This is what was happening with the one from The Ordinary. So far the Inkey one has been working well.
I recently spoke in a pot about the Peach & Lily Glass Skin serum. I have been using that for the past two weeks or so and I really like. It isn’t drying or heavy and I like to use it paired with the Inkey Beta Hydroxy Acid. My retinol has stayed the same, I am still using the Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% Retinol cream three times a week.
Moisturizer
I finished up my Saturday Skin Waterfall Cream back in August and have been using the Farmacy Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer pretty much ever since. This was recommended by an esthetician for oily skin and she was so right. I love this stuff! It’s super hydrating with a creamy texture but lightweight and not greasy and oily. It’s perfect for the colder months.
Face Oil
My The Ordinary Rosehip Seed Oil is back in the routine. I missed it. But it was just too heavy for my skin during the hot summer months. It’s my finishing touch for my nighttime routine to helps seal in my hyaluronic acid and moisturizer.
Masks
One thing I have been incorporating once a week into my routine over the last few weeks is the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. I usually use this on Sunday nights after my retinol to give my skin an extra boost of hydration.
