Easy Ways to Support Small Businesses
During these turbulent economic times, small businesses are among those taking the biggest hits. Many that are considered ”non-essential” have been closed or have had to greatly reduce their hours, staff and resources. If you are financially able to, now is the best time to send business their way. Below are a few tips and ideas for supporting small - and local -businesses in your area.
Order delivery or pick-up from local restaurants
For Mother’s Day order Mom’s flowers from a local flower shop
Order a lunch or dinner for healthcare workers at a local hospital
Buy gift cards from local shops to give to friends & family for their birthdays or holidays
Join an online shop’s subscription or membership service
Order fresh produce from a local farm
Shop at small local grocery shops for your groceries instead of large chains or big box stores
If you are unable to support a small business financially in this time - which I do not want anyone to feel pressure to do - you can help in other ways:
Follow them on social media
Like and share their posts
Recommend them to friends & family
All of these things help to amplify small businesses and potentially bring them business. Every little bit helps and more than anything during this time I think we need to remember to support and take care of each other and our communities.
