Project Pan Update: Skincare Empties - What I Will and Won't Be Repurchasing

Project Pan Update: Skincare Empties - What I Will and Won't Be Repurchasing

Last month I gave an update on my Project Pan and let you all know that I was going to focus on skincare items for the foreseeable future. And I’ve made pretty good progress not only on official project pan items but on other items on my skincare shelf.

Peach & Lily Refining Glass Skin Serum

I am now on my third bottle of this serum. It’s one of my favorite skincare products. I had purchased my backup bottle before I had finished this one. It takes me about 2-3 months to get through a bottle which isn’t that bad considering that I use it in my AM and PM routines. I’ve talked about this serum a lot so I won’t go into too much detail about it but it’s a great serum if you are looking for serum that does more than one thing. This one has hyaluronic acid and niacinmide in it along with peptides.

Laneige Water Bank Hydrating Gel

I added this moisturizer to my project pan last month and was able to finish it by the end of April. It’s actually a decent moisturizer. My major gripe with it and the reason why I won’t be repurchasing is that it has an insane amount of fragrance in it. It smells like you are rubbing an entire bottle of grandma’s perfume on your face. Which is a shame because outside of that it’s a decent moisturizer. But for the price there are better one on the market that don’t have sensitizing ingredients that aren’t great for the skin, like fragrance.

Dr. Dennis Gross Dew it Right Eye Gel Cream

I am generally not an eye cream kind of girl. Eye creams are eseentially just moisturizers marketed as “eye creams”. But in a moment of desperation of trying to rid myself of eye puffiness I fell for the okie doke and purchased this eye cream. It did…literally nothing. Except moisturize my under eyes. I was happy to finish it since it wasn’t cheap and did moisturize well but I have gone back to what I was doing before: taking my moisturizer under my eyes. Because it’s the exact same thing.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

I had completely forgotten about this moisturizer. It was sitting in my back up box of skincare items (it’s where I place repurchases and new items that I am not ready to use yet). I had purchased it awhile ago but had a ton of other moisturizers to get through. This is a pretty basic moisturizer. And that’s one of the reasons why I like it. It’s affordable and gets the job done. And it has Hyaluronic Acid in it which is a nice addition. It’s on the thick side but absorbs quickly. I like to apply it to my face and let it sink in on it’s own. The biggest drawback is that I went through this bottle really fast. When I placed my Sephora Spring Event sale order I purchased the larger size which I have already started using.

Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum

I finished this bottle at the beginning of the month and decided to not repurchase. Not because I didn’t like it but because after more than a year of use (this was my third bottle), I feel like my skin and stopped responding to it. And so I pulled out my The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%. This was another item that had been hanging out in my backup box. I’ve been using that for about two weeks now. Vitamin C serums can take awhile to show any visible results so nothing to report as of yet.

Supergoop Acai Fusion Lip Balm

I’m done with this lip balm. It’s pretty much empty. I could probably eek out one more application but I’m honestly not interested. I didn’t like it. It’s super thick and well…goopy, on the lips which I find unpleasant. It’s funny how I have used this lip balm for so long and it’s only during quarantine that I realized how much I hate it. I think that can be attributed to the fact that pre-quarantine I wore lipstick pretty much everyday and so this balm . Im still looking for an everyday lip balm that I love. Right now I am using the Innisfree Lip Balm in Early Grey Mint. Which is a decent lip balm but has a tint to it which I’m not the biggest fan of. I prefer clear lip balms. I did wind up replacing my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. After perusing various lip masks from other brands but opted to just repurchase the Laneige one because I really do like it a lot.

I did wind up buying quite a bit of skincare during the Sephora sale. This despite my new minimized skincare routine. What can I say? I love skincare. So I have quite a few newer items that I’m excited to give a try and see if they will fit into my skincare routine. But I am also SO happy that I’ve managed to use up some stuff within the last month and move a bunch of items from my backup box onto my shelf.
