2020 Project Pan Update, Progress & What's Being Replaced
My project pan has taken a bit of a halt as of late for obvious reasons, but I did manage to make progress on a few items and I even panned a few. As I stated in my last update I wasn’t going to be super strict with myself in regards to continuing to use items that simply don’t work for me.
Empties
Let’s start off with what I was successful with “panning”. In January I panned the Smashbox Primer Water and the L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear foundation. In February I finally gave up on and decluttered the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Matte Foundation. I had been trying to make that foundation work for me for two years and at that point I felt like it was time to just let it go. It was halfway empty do I didn’t feel completely guilty about getting rid of it.
March was ironically, a more productive month for panning items and making progress on others. I managed to pan three items - but all of them were skincare items.
I finished the Sunprise Mild Watery Finish Sunscreen SPF 50 PA +++. I was a bit surprised by how quickly I was able to get through this. I wear sunscreen everyday but I feel like the Mild Airy Finish version of this sunscreen has more product in it. I FINALLY finished my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask after nearly a full year. This was quite exciting I have to say lol. And now I need a new lip mask. I’m excited to try something new, perhaps one of the Mamonde or Sarah Happ lip masks. I also managed to empty my Too Faced Hangover Primer mini. This one surprised me as I was sure I had a bit of product left in it but the last time I reached for it I couldn’t get any out. Which I was a it bummed about tbh. I will in all likelihood be repurchasing a full size of this primer in the future.
Progress
I made progress on a few other items, most notable my Dr. Dennis Gross Eye Gel Cream and my Supergoop Acai Fusion Lip Balm. I expect to be done with both of these items by my next update. I have just a bit of my Tokyo Milk Dead Sexy 06 and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner that I should be finished with as well.
What I’m swapping out
Since I am now indoors for the immediate forseeable future I decided to put a pause on panning any makeup items. It just isn’t a realistic option for me considering that I decide to do my makeup maybe once or twice a week at the most. Instead I want to focus on skincare. Which own a lot of and use everyday as I have been pretty diligent about my skin care routine through all of this. I have a few items that I would like to use up. Items that aren’t favorites or that are half used up and that I want to finish and then replace with something else. And so listed below are the items I will focusing on panning during this time:
Laneige Water Bank Moisture Gel
I wanted to love this when I first purchased it but it is HEAVILY fragranced which is a big no-no for me with skincare. As a result it’s just been hanging out on my skincare shelf in my bathroom. I sometimes reach for it when I run out of one of my other moisturizers. It isn’t a cheap product, so I don’t want to toss it, but I just want to be done with it once and for all.
Elizabeth Arden 8-Hour Fragrance Free Cream
I have actually been using this a TON lately now that I am constantly washing my hands and they are drier than they’ve ever been. At night after applying my hand lotion, I like to apply this all over my hands to help seal in the moisture and help with dry patches. It’s also recently taken the place of my Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. I apply it at night before bed and it’s been keeping my lips protected.
The Ordinary 2% Salicylic Acid
This has been my go-to SA serum for what feels like forever but I recently finished the Paula’s Choice Salicylic Acid treatment and loved it so much more. It had been sitting on my shelf for ages half-used and I decided to finally finish it up. I feel like my skin responded better to it and perhaps my skin has gotten used to the TO formulation and has stopped responding to it in the way it used to. I recently opened my back up bottle and want to finish it up before I purchase the PC one.
The Ordinary 100% Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil
I love this face oil and highly recommend it for oily and acne-prone skin. I have half a bottle left that I would like to finish up. I purchased The Ordinary Borage Seed Oil awhile back and it’s been sitting in my back-ups box. I would like to give that oil a try but don’t need two face oils open at the same time.
Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum
I feel like my skin hasn’t gotten used to this product as well and it’s time to try something new. I have less than half the bottle left and should be able to finish this relatively quickly.
