Project Pan One Month Update
I started my 2020 Project Pan almost exactly a month ago. You can read about my reasons for doing a Project Pan and what my goals are for it here. Below I will go down the list of items in my Project Pan and update you on my progress with each of them!
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Matte Foundation
Status: Abandoned
This one is….I hate this foundation. Like REALLY hate it. I wanted to love it when I first bought and even used it a bit last Spring. I wore this foundation for a solid two weeks last month. But my skin and this foundation just don’t get along and by the end of the day my foundation looks like cottage cheese on my skin. It’s gross. Not very attractive to walk around looking like that at work. And so I am considering calling this one a bust and either tossing it or seeing if I can foist it onto someone. I don’t actually have a lot of friends with the exact same skin tone so that would be kind of hard. I’m leaning towards simply tossing it. I have had it for awhile and at this point it’s basically on the verge of expiring. BUT- this little experiment forced me to take another long hard look at my foundation collection and I realized that a LOT of my foundations should be tossed. Some I simply don’t use anymore and others are the wrong shade or expired. I think by doing a major declutter of my foundations I won’t feel so guilty about purchasing/trying new ones and I will actually have space for them.
L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear 24hr Foundation
Status: Panned
I finished this a few days after my Project Pan started and it was good way to kick off the project. I love this foundation and will eventually pick up a new bottle. But there are other foundations that have been released recently that I would like to try first.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner
Status: Ongoing (approximately 40% finished)
When I started this project I had already been using this toner regularly and haven’t stopped. I use it twice a day and as a result my progress has been steady. The bottle is white opaque plastic so I couldn’t get a good idea of where the fill line is now , but it feels like there has been progress. I would say I have maybe a little more than half of the bottle left.
Smashbox Primer Water
Status: Panned (kind of)
I had the tiniest amount of product left in this bottle when it fell on my floor and the spray component completely shattered. I had already purchased a replacement primer water back in December and so I simply added that small amount to the new bottle so it wouldn’t be wasted. I have of course, since used that new bottle quite a few times so on balance you could say I have used up the remaining about.
Tokyo Milk Dead Sexy 06
Status: Ongoing (80% finished)
If you recall, the reason why I wanted to pan this was because of the broken atomizer on it. Well after a few uses it stopped working completely and so I wound up buying a new atomizer on Amazon for it. The new atomizer bottle is significantly larger than the original bottle and so I got to see how little perfume was actually in it. Not a lot. And I’ve been using it pretty much everyday. I’d forgotten how much I love this perfume. I can see me finishing this within the next month or so.
Sunprise Mild Watery Finish SPF 50 PA +++
Status: Ongoing (approx. 30% finished)
I have been using this at a steady clip since I wear sunscreen everyday (as you should too). So the bottle is a bit more sunken in in the middle but I still have a fair amount of product left in it. It’s coming along.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
Status: Ongoing…and going (but about 20% left)
Has anyone actually ever finished a tub of this stuff before? Like really? It seems to be bottomless. I have used it literally every night since I bought it in April of last year - and there’s still SO MUCH PRODUCT. HOW? I can see more of the sides but the bottom of the pan? Nope. I’m seriously considering starting to apply extra to my lips at night just to get some kind of progress. Is that cheating? I DON’T CARE.
SuperGoop Fusion Acai Fusion Lip Balm
Status: Ongoing ( 40% finished)
I’m starting to feel the same way about this one as I do the Laneige. I use this in the morning to help moisturize and exfoliate my lips and I apply it under lipstick at times as well. But not a huge amount of progress. It’s definitely more squeezed in the middle but that’s about it. I feel like lip balms usually run out so fast but the moment you try to run out they last forever.
Colourpop Ultra Lip Gloss in Aquarius
Status: Abandoned (for now)
The issue is that I just don’t wear lip gloss in the winter time. It’s more of a summer product for me. So I have only used it a few times. I will be putting this one aside until the weather gets warmer and will be replacing it with something else. I haven’t decided what yet.
Urban Decay Nighthawk Lip Pencil
Status: Ongoing (approx. 30% left)
Still using this everyday. I have two pencils at the same exact length and have been mixing them up (by accident). So it’s hard to gauge my exact progress but they are still very much in use.
Too Faced Hangover Primer
Status: Abandoned (90% finished)
I was using this with the Fenty foundation but since I have abandoned that product I haven’t reached for this one. I will probably be swapping this out for something else or will force myself to use it with other foundations since there isn’t much left in the bottle anyway.
ColourPop Everybody’s Got A Weakness Highlighter
Status: Same (approx 80% full)
I have been using this, but I haven’t reached for it as much as I thought I would. I recently re-discovered some highlighters in my collection (a byproduct of my no-buy January) that I have been loving and wearing regularly and so this one hasn’t been reached for as much. I will make more of effort in the next month and if I still haven’t made progress may swap it out.
Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Dew It Right Eye Gel
Status: 60% finished
This product has been going surprisingly fast. I have been using it every morning before doing my makeup. At this rate I believe I can be done with it by end of March or sooner.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner
Status: Ongoing
There was more product left in this liner than I originally thought. I have been using it pretty much everyday. On days when I am not wearing wings (which is most days) I use it for a thin line across my lash line before mascara to make my lashes seem fuller.
And that’s where I’m at as of now. Started out with a bang, but it’s been kind of meh the rest of the month. I think I will take a cue from the Beauty News ladies who also do Project Pan every year and allow myself to swap out items if I feel like I can’t make progress with them or no longer want to. I have made a small list of items I will be adding into the rotation to replace the Fenty Beauty foundation and the Colourpop lip gloss. I don’t want this to become a slog. I want this to be an enjoyable project that allows also helps me pan items in my collection.
