Spring Beauty Wish List and Anti-Haul

Spring Beauty Wish List and Anti-Haul

It’s that time of year where all the makeup brands are releasing their Valentine’s Day and Spring Collections. I did a similar post for the Fall and Winter collections last year, compiling a list of what I am interested- and not interested -in buying, and decided to do the same for this upcoming season.

By Terry Paris by Light & by Night Palettes

I have never tried any By Terry products, but I have heard nothing but great things about the quality of the products. Notwithstanding their not so inclusive shade range in regards to their complexion products. I am an eyeshadow palette lover and so of course the two things that have caught my eye are the two palettes the brand recently released. Paris by Light is the "neutral” toned palette and Paris by Night is the more colorful one. Both of these are stunning but I by Night is the one I am drawn to the most. BUT- I kind of want them both because…well they’re a set and they belong together lol. And I;’m a sucker for packaging and these palettes are beautiful

Natasha Denona Love Palette

I am still somewhat on the fence about this one. It’s pretty but the reviews have been mixed. And while it is a fun color story it isn’t all that unique for my extensive palette collection. So yes I want it. But I also kind of don’t. It is Limited Edition but I don’t want to let that make me feel rushed to purchase it. The Metropolis palette was Limited Edition as well and is still available. So I will think on it a bit longer before making my decision. The good thing about this palette is it the same size and price as the Sunrise palette that was released last Summer. Which feature midi sized palettes and a $65 price tag - is much cheaper than the usual $129 price of Natasha Denona palettes.

Lime Crime Prelude Chroma Palette

Last year, Lime Crime announced that they were ending the Venus series with their final Venus palette, Immortalis. This announcement was a bit premature since they have released two Venus “prelude palettes”. Both palettes are lovely but Chroma is the one that immediately caught my eye. The color story is beautiful and so is the packaging. I don’t own all of the Venus palettes so perhaps that is why I am not as fatigued with the theme but considering that it has been going for years now I can see why some people felt that they should have simply just made this and the other palette, Exposed, an entirely new collection. I’m indifferent about it.

Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Perfection Concealer System

I am intrigued by this. The Pat McGrath foundation was okay. Not a favorite but not bad. It was quite sheer- to medium coverage when I prefer a tad more coverage in my foundations. But concealers are a different story. I prefer a lighter coverage concealer with a creamy or hydrating finish. I am hoping that that is exactly what this is. I would like to try the concealer and the blurring powder. I mostly want to try the powder on my pores - I don’t generally set my concealer with powder.

Estee Lauder Futurist Hydrating Rescue Foundation

I love trying a new foundation and this one has peaked my interest and watching reviews of it. The description of it reminds me a bit of the Fentry Hydrating Foundation and I would love to see how the two stack up against each other. I enjoy a good hydrating foundation to help balance my oil production.

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator is Sensation

This is pretty. It looks like it would be lovely layered over blush or used as a highlighter. I would like to see and swatch it in person but it has peaked my interest.

Zoeva Precious Palette
This palette caught my eye when Angelica Nyqvist first talked about it on her YouTube Channel late last year. I was hoping that it would eventually make it’s way to Ulta - and it has! This is one of the items I am thinking of using one of my low-buy allotments on. It’s just so pretty. And I’ve only tried one Zoeva palette before (the Eclectic Eye palette) and would like to try another and see how the formulas compare. Plus, this such a lovely color story and I like that it is a small 6 pan palette - can we get more of these please makeup brands?

And now… the anti-haul.

bite-beauty-changemaker-supercharged-micellar-foundation.jpeg

Bite Beauty Supercharged Gamechanger Micellar Foundation

This foundation sends me into a rage spiral. Much like most “clean beauty” products do. Clean beauty is a racket. A marketing tool that has unfortunately taken hold despite not a whole lot of science - or even common sense - behind it. And Bite has jumped on the bandwagon with this foundation. Touting it as a “clean” product while it contains fragrance and ingredients that many other “non-clean” foundations have. And the whole “Micellar” thing really gets me going. Micellar water is a CLEANSING agent. A mild surfectant that gets rids of dirt and oil with tiny balls called “micelles” Why they hell is that in a foundation?! They say that the “Micellar technology” gently mimics the skin for a smooth non-cakey appearance. Huh?! Sorry but I’m calling BS. What purpose does it serve other than to have a catchy name that misleads consumers into thinking the foundation does something “extra special”. It does not. And all of that before I even get to the fact that the foundation itself has been getting rather mixed reviews. So yeah…it’s a no for me dawg.

NARS-Cool-Crush-Eyeshadow-Palette.jpeg

Nars Cool Crush Palette

I recently purchased my first Nars eyeshadow palette, Afterglow. I had added it to my wishlist after seeing reviews of it and really loving the color story. And I almost added this one to it as well. Until I came to my senses. This palette is pretty. But let’s be honest. If you block out the two teal shades it’s just another neutral palette. Nothing special.

ABH-Amrezy-Palette.jpg

Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette

This palette is the third collaboration between ABH and Amrezy and in my opinion the least interesting. It comes with two additional shades which makes the palette larger than a normal ABH palette- that alone irks me. Imagine storing this with all your other ABH palettes and this one not sticking out? Ugh. But what irks me even more is that if you own more than two ABH palettes you own most of the shades in this one. The this palette is essentially the Modern Renaissance, Soft Glam, Norvina and Riviera palette (you can check out my ranking of all my ABH palettes here) with some pops of blue and pink glitter thrown in. And the glitter shades are pressed glitter! Why?! WHY?! Did ABH not get the memo that no one likes pressed glitters in palettes? This one is a HARD pass for me.

Natasha-Denone-Love-Glow-Palette.png

Natasha Denona Love Glow Face Palette

This is the other palette released in Natasha Denona’s Love Collection. From what I understand this is a glitter and shimmer bomb. I love a shimmery blush. But glittery? Not so much. I’ve seen reviews on this palette and while it looks pretty on the face everyone has reported about how glittery the palette is overall. What reviews for this palette HAS done is make me curious about the Bloom face palette. It scared me off originally because of the super pigmented blush in it but the comparisons of the two has makes me a bit interested in it. But the truth of the matter is that I own enough face palettes. And generally you only end of up using only half of the palette and so you are basically wasting money and product.

Huda-Beauty-Wishful-Skincare-Line.jpg

Huda Beauty Wishful Skincare

Huda Kattan - the YouTube and Instagram influencer behind Huda Beauty, has announced her new skincare line, Wishful. And all I could think when I heard about it was a “YIKES” and “No thanks”. Huda became famous for her “skincare” hack videos that show her doing things like making masks with baking soda or lemon juice. In other words, giving terrible skincare advice (please do not put baking soda or lemon juice on your face). And so the idea of her creating a skincare line give me the shivers. And judging by a few of the products that have been sneak-peeked I am right to be wary. A cleanser that is a physical AND chemical exfoliant? Um…no? In a cleanser no less? Double no. I’m not interested in ruining wrecking the moisture barrier of my skin.

Viseart-Paris-Edit-Palette.jpg

Viseart Paris Edit Palette

This is a pretty palette. And also boring. I’m still on the fence about how I feel about Viseart shadows. I know so many people love and rave about them and I have tried two of their mini palettes, but I am still very meh about them. I feel like I need to play with mine a bit more. But I’m not interested in this palette because it simply doesn’t excite me.
