Updated Realistic Project Pan

Updated Realistic Project Pan

At the beginning of this year, I started a project pan. Little did I know that 1. I had bitten off more than I could chew for my first project pan. And 2. we would be in a pandemic and in lockdown for the majority of the year. Both of those things threw me off my game a bit and I abandoned the project. For those that don’t know what a project pan is, it is the process of purposely panning or “finishing” beauty products you own. I have panned items since then, mostly skincare which I find easy to do if I am using it 1-2 times a day. Makeup is much harder for me. Mainly because I get bored and I own a ton of makeup and don’t like getting locked into in having to use the same items every day.

But I wanted to give it another try. This time I decided to be realistic and choose items that I could in fact use everyday and that I won’t feel like will take forever to finish. Most of these items are already well on their way to being finished which makes it feel less overwhelming. My goal is to finish these products by the end of the year. Which I think is a realistic goal.

Shiseido Synchro Self-Refreshing Foundation

This foundation has been a bug a boo in my collection. When I bought I was so excited to try it as everyone raves about how good it is. Well…it wasn’t all that great for me. No matter what I put under it, it would be a greasy mess within a few hours. But it always looked amazing on me for the first hour or so. During lockdown I decided o give it another go and not put anything under it or over it (i.e., no sunscreen, no primer, no setting spray). And it looked amazing. Now it’s not realistic for me to wear this foundation out, because even I forego primer and setting spray, I always wear sunscreen. And so I have been wearing it in the house. I’ve been trying to do my makeup most weekdays and have been purposely reaching for this foundation. It is about 25-30% gone at this point and I feel like I could finish it by the end of the year. I’m a bit bummed that it doesn’t work for me like it does for others, but at least I can get some use out of it.

Thymes Vetiver Rosewood Shower Gel

The Thymes line was a massive disappointment for me. I purchased the shower gel and the unisex cologne at the same time. Both are “lightly fragranced” to put it nicely. I am almost finished with the shower gel and decided to add that to the project pan. The cologne I don’t know if I will be keeping. I may give it to my mother or a friend.

CoverFX Mattifying Setting Spray

This is my favorite setting spray, but I haven’t been using setting spray since I am home most of the time and don’t see the point. But I have a tiny bit of spray left in this bottle that I want to finish before I set my sights on my other setting sprays to pan.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Brow Gel

I completely forgot that I bought this and was reminded of it while watching someone talk about it on YouTube. I have been using the Lime Crime Brow Gel since May and have been loving it. I don’t hate the dip brow and it does what I am looking for a colored brow gel to do- which is make my lashes appear fuller. I do find it to be a bit too pigmented and wet for my preferences. I had been using it quite regularly at the beginning of the year and had made a good dent in it. I figured it would be better to finish it up rather than use up my favorite brow gel and need to replace it.

And that’s it. That is my modest and small updated project pan. I pan items like brow products, bath & body and skincare items all the time. But I want to get better at panning other makeup items. Which is really hard when you have a large collection. My real goal is to use the products I own more and purchase less overall.
