The Best Eye Shadow Palettes for the Holiday Season
If there is ever a time to break out the shimmery golds, the vibrant greens, bright berries and sparkly silvers it’s this time of year. If you are looking for an eye shadow palette to create beautiful looks with this holiday season, I have compiled a list with just that in mind. I wanted to give a broad spectrum of price points so that whether you are on a budget or looking to splurge their is a bit of something for everyone!
Too Faced Gingerbread Spice Palette
This palette was released as part of Too Faced’s 2018 Holiday collection. I recently purchased it myself and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and and versatility. I was able to create really pretty everyday looks as well as really pretty colorful and shimmery looks. My favorite shades in the palette are Gumdrop, Spice is Nice, Hot Toddy, Oh Snap and Spice of Life.
Milani Gilded Desires Eye & Face Palette
If you are looking for a multi-functional palette, Milani Gilded Desires is great option. It comes with 12 eye shadows and two highlighters. This is another recent purchase that I was able to test drive. I used this to go from day to night for a company function and it worked wonderfully. I threw it in my makeup bag and was able to touch up my highlighter and eye shadow. The one drawback with this palette is that there are not many matte shades in this palette. Only two (the black and taupe). The rest are satins and shimmers. So to complete my look I did wind up having to reach for another palette for a matte wine shade to deepen the crease. But I didn’t mind having to do that.
BHCosmetics Royal Affair Palette
This palette has quickly become one of my faves from BHCosmetics. It’s so versatile that you will be using it well beyond the holiday season. I’ve created pretty berry-toned looks, soft neutral looks and really pretty sparkly looks. And you have the prerequisite gold, silver and berry metallics to create holiday looks. There is even a really pretty muted green. I love this palette. It might even wind up on my 2018 faves list. Price point wise it retails for $18. But BHCosmetics is currently having a ton of sales on their site and I saw the price listed for as little as $13 this past week!
Suva Beauty Saffron Palette
I mentioned Suva Beauty in my post last week about Brands I Want To Try in 2019. Their Saffron palette has been getting rave reviews and after seeing it in used in tons of tutorials and how pigmented and beautiful the colors are it is definitely on my wish list. If you are a warm neutral kind of girl but want something sparkly and special for the holiday season this is a fantastic option. Those gold and burgundy metallics alone are stunning.
Pat McGrath Mthrshp Sublime Bronze Temptation Palette
If you are looking to splurge a bit and get a palette that not only scream holiday but is also insane quality look no further than the Sumblime Bronze Temptation palette. This is one of the three new Mthrshp mini palettes Pat McGrath released for the holidays. And it’s the only one of the three I don’t own - which I am kind of kicking myself over. I told myself I didn’t need it. I tried to ignore that beautiful green shadow calling my name…. This palette is STUNNING. It looks rather flat it in photos but photo never do Auntie Pat’s palettes justice. That burgundy metallic looks just like any other burgundy metallic right? Wrong. It is a burgundy DUOCHROME. When applied to the eye it has subtle purple color shift! The green is insanely pigmented and applies to the eye like butter. Butttterr. And with that I’ve re-talked myself into buying it. But honestly - it’s a beautiful and functional palette. It has every thing you need to create a complete look. Two mattes - one taupe one dark brown, a champagne metallic for brow bone highlight or to place all over the eye for a soft shimmery look. And a burgundy and red that shouts “ Happy Holidays”!
Too Faced Chocolate Gold Bar Palette, $49
I was a bit reticent to add this palette to the list since it’s been out for awhile. BUT - it’s still a really good palette and it’s still available for purchase, so why not? Similar to the Pat McGrath Palette it has colors that are perfect for the holiday season as well as shades that work for everyday. The main drawback is that there are only three mate shades, Cocoa Truffle, Decandent and So Boujee. But honestly I don’t think you would need much more to create a cohesive look. You could take So Boujee through the crease and use Cocoa Truffle in the outer corner. You could then add Holla for a Dolla or Gold Dipped for a subtle shimmery vibe or use So Boujee and Decadent along with Chocolate Gold or Rich Girl. There are tons of possibilities!
